Marranitos

I'm lucky enough to have not one but two aunts - one on each side of the family - who have cultivated in me (and my siblings) a passion for creative foods. My Aunt Kaye and I hunted through the Milwaukee's south-side neighborhood of Walkers Point for the best spicy cuisine, and my Aunt Karen always scheduled chile relleno and tamale lunches in the dives of north Denver. "Our table" was the booth at the plate glass window with the bullet hole in it.

These two ladies are the real Enchilada Mamas!

I baked up some marranitos, the traditional Mexican pig-shaped molasses cookie which closely resembles gingerbread. Thanks to the folks at Mexican Dessert Recipes for nailing this one. I'll get some pics posted soon!
